4 years ago tomorrow Meg was taking an unexpected trip to Primary Children's Hospital thanks to her mama. One Sunday morning Lance was putting Meg down for nap. When putting her down for a nap I usually will take out any hair things that she is wearing, which lance was unaware of. So meg went to bed with a pink star barrett in her hair. Lance hated those barrett's and continued to tell me that they were dangerous weeks prior to this day. Of coarse I did not listen because it was all about how she looked, I know terrible.
About 20 minutes later we heard meg gag and throw up. We were not sure that she had eaten the barrette but could not find it anywhere. We ripped her room apart and nothing. I called everyone and they all said it will come through, even her pediatrician. So through out the next 7 days it did not come through. Meg was eating and acting very normal too.
On day eight I took her to be x-rayed to see if it was still there. It was lodged in her esophagus, no one could believe it. The doctors could not believe she was eating, breathing or anything else. They quickly sent her to Primarys. The doctors were worried that they would have to repair her esophagus after taking the barrette out but luckily it came out without any problems. We were there only a couple of days and after that she was good to go.
What a terrible experience and I have never felt worse. I am sure it was very hard for Lance to not say I told you so, but I fully learned my lesson.

I remember that incident! I had the same scare with Ellie, but luckly found them. Never again has she worn those small things.... no matter how cute they are :)

How scary was that. I'm glad everything was okay. Trev swallowed a marble once. I will never forget that. Crazy babies what are they thinking.
I hate that story so bad. After I had Bentley I was a PARANOID freak because of what happen with Meg. It's so crazy to me that she was eating and sleeping as norm with a barrette lodged.

I think of you everytime I put anything in Lexies hair - and thanks to you I have remembered to take them out before naps... maybe I should have tossed them all together :(
That was so crazy! And to think how much worse it could have been, LUCKY little girl! I just LOVE her!!
i remember hearing a story like that and now i think it was shan telling me about meg...but b/c of that i always take things out bostyns hair when she sleeps! scary! so shan told you about bostyns pictures??? not good. but i hope they turn out!
Oh I remember you telling me this story when we went to Yuba last year! Remember I thought Braylee had swallowed her hair clip? She threw up and her barrett was missing but I took her to x-rayed and no sign of it. Thank goodness is wasn't lodged like poor Meg!
Wow, I didn't know this happened. How scarry is that! You must've been freaked to find it lodged. Your expression in the last pic tells it all. Thanks for the name of that place - I'll have to head up there soon. Good luck with pics tomorrow (i think) I can't wait to see how they turn out!!
Oh wow! That is horrible! Jac hates those clips too. He use to always take them out of Ele's hair.

How SCARY! I'm sure you were traumatized and ditched the clips for a while. I can't believe I stumbled upon your blog. It's been a while since Aspen Salon and Bunco....
